H. Rap Brown

H. Rap Brown, later known as Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, was a prominent and militant figure in the late 1960s Black Power movement. As chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), he advocated for Black self-defense and was known for his fiery rhetoric. After his activism in the 1960s, he converted to Islam and changed his name to Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin. In 2002, he was convicted of the murder of a sheriff's deputy and is currently serving a life sentence.
