Gil Amelio is an American technology executive known for his leadership roles at major tech companies. He began his career at Bell Labs and later became president of Rockwell International's semiconductor division. Amelio served as the CEO of National Semiconductor and then famously as the CEO of Apple from 1996 to 1997. His tenure at Apple is remembered for overseeing the acquisition of NeXT, which brought Steve Jobs back to the company.
