George Jackson was a prominent American activist, author, and revolutionary figure within the Black Power movement. While incarcerated, he became a leader in the prisoners' rights movement and co-founded the Black Guerrilla Family. His writings, particularly the books "Soledad Brother: The Prison Letters of George Jackson" and "Blood in My Eye," became influential texts on radical thought and systemic racism. Jackson was killed during an alleged escape attempt from San Quentin Prison in 1971, cementing his status as a martyr for many in the radical movement.
