Gavyn Davies is a distinguished British economist and former investment banker, widely recognized for his significant roles in both the financial and media sectors. He began his career as an economic advisor to Prime Minister James Callaghan before joining Goldman Sachs, where he eventually became the firm's chief international economist. In 2001, Davies was appointed Chairman of the BBC, a position he held until his resignation in 2004 following the Hutton Inquiry. Since leaving the BBC, he has continued his work in finance, co-founding the hedge fund Fulcrum Asset Management and writing influential columns for the Financial Times.
