Frederic William Farrar was a distinguished cleric of the Church of England and a prolific author. He served as the master of Marlborough College and later as the Dean of Canterbury Cathedral. Farrar is best known for his scholarly works on the life of Christ and his fictional school story, 'Eric, or, Little by Little.' His writings and sermons had a considerable influence on Victorian religious thought and education.
