Feisal Abdul Rauf is an Egyptian-American Sufi imam, author, and activist known for his work in interfaith dialogue. He served as the imam of Masjid al-Farah in New York City for 28 years and founded the American Society for Muslim Advancement (ASMA). Rauf gained international attention as the figurehead behind the Park51 project, a planned Muslim community center near the World Trade Center site. He has written several books on Islam and its relationship with the Western world, advocating for a moderate interpretation of the faith.
