Donna Shalala is a distinguished American politician and academic administrator with a long career in public service. She served as the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Bill Clinton from 1993 to 2001, making her the longest-serving HHS Secretary. In addition to her cabinet role, she has led several major universities as president, including Hunter College, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Miami. Later in her career, she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Florida's 27th congressional district from 2019 to 2021.
