Theologian

Charles Hodge was a prominent American Presbyterian theologian and the principal of Princeton Theological Seminary from 1851 to 1878. He is considered one of the greatest defenders of Calvinistic orthodoxy in 19th-century America and a leading figure of the Old Princeton school of theology. His most influential work, the three-volume "Systematic Theology," remains a standard text for many within the Reformed tradition. Through his extensive writings and long tenure at Princeton, Hodge profoundly shaped the intellectual and spiritual life of the Presbyterian Church in the United States.
