Benjamin Harrison was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 23rd president of the United States from 1889 to 1893. He was the grandson of the ninth president, William Henry Harrison, creating the only grandfather-grandson duo of presidents. During his administration, Harrison championed landmark legislation such as the Sherman Antitrust Act and advocated for federal education funding and voting rights for African Americans. After his presidency, he returned to his law practice in Indianapolis and remained an esteemed elder statesman until his death.
