Ariel Durant was a Russian-born American author and historian, best known for co-authoring the eleven-volume work The Story of Civilization with her husband, Will Durant. Initially his student, she became his collaborator and co-author, bringing a unique perspective to their historical narratives. Their joint efforts earned them the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction in 1968 for the tenth volume, Rousseau and Revolution. She continued to write and lecture with her husband until their deaths, which occurred just two weeks apart in 1981.
