Amy Marcy Beach was a pioneering American composer and concert pianist, recognized as the first successful female composer of large-scale art music in the United States. A child prodigy, she made her concert debut at sixteen and quickly gained fame for both her performances and her compositions. Her "Gaelic" Symphony, premiered by the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1896, was the first symphony composed and published by an American woman. Throughout her career, she composed over 300 works, blending Romanticism with folk melodies and leaving an indelible mark on American classical music.
