Alois Brunner was a high-ranking Austrian Nazi SS officer who played a significant role in the implementation of the Holocaust. As an assistant to Adolf Eichmann, he was responsible for the deportation of over 128,000 Jewish people from Austria, Greece, France, and Slovakia to extermination camps during World War II. After the war, Brunner escaped justice and found refuge in Syria, where he lived for decades under a pseudonym. He remained one of the most wanted Nazi war criminals in the world, with his death in Syria only being confirmed decades later.
