Al Oerter was an American track and field athlete who specialized in the discus throw. He is one of only a few athletes to win an individual event in four consecutive Olympic Games, achieving this feat from 1956 to 1968. Throughout his remarkable career, he set four world records and was known for his competitive spirit and ability to perform under extreme pressure. After retiring from athletics, Oerter became an accomplished abstract painter, pursuing a successful second career as an artist.
